What are the Symptoms of Grief?

In a recent post, we discussed the difference between grief and loss. We determined that grief is an emotional response to the loss of someone or something. But, that emotional response can create a multitude of strange and unwelcome symptoms. But, rest assured, they’re ALL normal. Below is a short list (because the list is ultimately endless) of the physical symptoms people may experience. The list is simply meant to give you some reassurance in your experience.

  1. Deep Sadness or Sorrow

  2. Anger & Frustration

  3. Guilt

  4. Numbness / Disconnection from life

  5. Denial

  6. Fatigue

  7. Headaches / Migranes

  8. Loss/ Increase in Appetite

  9. Difficulty Focusing

  10. Anxiety

  11. Depression

  12. Social withdrawal / Loneliness

Grief is the worst! It just is. But, whatever way it shows up for you, whatever way you experience it is normal, justified and if you need help managing, you deserve to do that.

My goal is to: empathize, encourage and empower you as you move through grief at your own pace. I would be so honoured to be your companion and support you on this journey.
